Shashank Manohar to be unanimously elected as BCCI president at SGM

Shashank Manohar is expected to be unanimously elected as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India at the Special General Body meeting (SGM) in Mumbai on October 4, following the demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya last month.
N Srinivasan will not be attending the SGM in his capacity as president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA); instead it will be PS Raman, a TNCA vice-president, who will represent the state association
Media reports suggested that the SGM would be short as former BCCI president Srinivasan was unable to strike a deal with Mumbai Cricket Association president Sharad Pawar, who decided to withdraw from the BCCI presidency race.
Media reports said seasoned administrators such as Pawar, Ajay Shirke (both from Maharashtra), Niranjan Shah (Saurashtra) and Arun Jaitley (Union Finance Minister and former BCCI functionary) feel Manohar is the right man for the job in these times of crisis.
Manohar, BCCI president between 2008 and 2011, is expected to garner sufficient nominations from among the six full members from East Zone. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly will represent Cricket Association of Bengal, while Dalmiya’s son, Avishek, will represent the National Cricket Club.
