MS Dhoni to play practice matches with India A ahead of ODI series

India's limited-overs captain MS Dhoni might reportedly play a couple of warm-up matches before he joins the ODI squad who are set to play in the first ODI against England on January 15 in Pune. Until now, Dhoni has been a regular part of the Jharkhand Ranji team's practice sessions.
Before the start of the limited-overs series against India and England, India A are scheduled to play two warm-up matches against the visitors on 10th and 12th January at the CCI ground in Mumbai.
India's limited-over captain MS Dhoni, who has not been playing since the fifth ODI against New Zealand in October, might take part in the warm-up matches in order to get some much-needed match practice.
However, Dhoni has been a regular member of Jharkhand's Ranji Trophy team in the role of a 'mentor' and has been a frequent participant in their practice sessions. Last month, JSCA secretary Rajesh Verma had told PTI that Dhoni will not be part of the starting XI with the state team as Jharkhand have qualified for the knock-out phases of the Ranji Trophy.
The first ODI between India and England will be played on January 15, 2017 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
