BCCI set to issue cash cards to every player

The BCCI is pondering over whether to give cash cards to all of their players on national team duty instead of the current norm where it is limited to only a few team officials. The Board is also set to hold a treasurers’ seminar on the new tax laws which are set to be introduced by the government.

Cash cards are prepaid cards provided by banks which can be used by people who don’t have accounts with those banks. Usually, the officials who are traveling with the national cricket team are handed over these cards, but the BCCI are now considering the option of handing a card to each of the players.

“Basically we are planning it for our team. We want cards to be given to the players and officials. Already we give it to a certain type of officials and want to expand it,”an unnamed BCCI source told PTI.

The BCCI is also set to host a two-day seminar for its treasurers to ensure that they are aware of the Goods and Services Tax which is about to be introduced by the Central Government. “It’s about normal bread and butter work,” the sources said about the seminar.
