WATCH | AB de Villiers suffers brain-fade as RCB's top order fails again

Nothing seems to be going right for RCB at the moment. After they got all out for just 49 against KKR, the top order collapsed yet again today against Gujarat Lions with AB de Villiers running himself out thanks to an unbelievable brain-fade when he was expected to lead a fightback.

With Gujarat restricting RCB to 58/4 after nine overs and Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle back in the dressing room, it was all down to the South African to take RCB to a defendable score. But on the third ball of the ninth over, the Chinnaswamy crowd was handed another shock when de Villiers was forced to make the long walk back to the pavilion after a hilarious mix up with Mandeep Singh.

Mandeep played an Ankit Soni ball towards point and de Villiers standing at the non-striker's end immediately gave the call for a run. With Jadeja making up ground in quick time Mandeep appeared hesitant. Sensing the same, the South African was caught flat-footed on the middle of the pitch. But just as he would have started to make a run back to the non-striker's end, Mandeep came out for the single.

By this time, Jadeja already had the ball in his hand and was about to throw it towards the stumps. The Indian all-rounder got a direct hit with the South African not even able to make it into the frame of the camera. Had Jadeja juggled the ball and thrown it towards Dinesh Karthik through his legs, de Villiers would still have been a few yards short.

While against KKR, the Royal Challengers were undone by some brilliant bowling, this wicket was the very definition of a brain fade moment that left RCB in a host of trouble yet again.
