WATCH | Bangladesh celebrates a bit too soon, yet again

Much like the World T20 match against India, Bangladesh once again started to celebrate a bit too soon in their ongoing Test match against Sri Lanka at Galle. Bowler Subashis Roy was elated when he had Kusal Mendis caught in the deep only to find out that the fielder had crossed the boundary.

Bangladesh are currently on a tour to Sri Lanka for a two-Test series, and things have not gone too well for the visitors so far. In the first innings of the ongoing first Test at the Galle International Stadium, Sri Lanka have posted a score of 494 with Kusal Mendis scoring a brilliant 194.

Bangladesh’s plight was perhaps best surmised by the comical scene in the 95th over bowled by Subashis Roy. A well-directed short ball took the top edge of Kusal’s bat and Mustafizur Rahman at fine-leg took the catch but stepped over the boundary ropes in his effort. However, bowler Subashis Roy, who did notice this, started celebrating the wicket prematurely. The bowler was elated and raised both his hands in celebration, while the umpire did the same in the background only to signal a six. Kusal could not help but smile at the gaffe.
