WATCH | Rashid Khan breaks stump with devastating googly

Rashid Khan's skills with the ball were on full display for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2016 edition of the IPL. But even he would have been surprised when he, in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, shattered the middle stump, with a quick googly to send Dilshan Munaweera back to the pavilion.

When Rashid was picked up for an astonishing Rs. 4 crores in the IPL auction, it raised a lot of eyebrows. But the 19-year-old played 14 matches and claimed 17 wickets for the team proving the franchise's decision right. In the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Rashid showed what else he could offer.

Playing against Chittagong Vikings, for the Comilla Victorians, the Afghanistan leggie not only sent back Munaweera but also produces a rare scene as he broke the middle stump.

This incident occurred in the 16th over of the game when the Vikings were at 96/2 and Munaweera, batting at 19 off 24 balls, was at the crease. The leg-spinner had gone without a wicket in his first three overs but in his last over, he was single minded about getting a wicket against his name. Facing his fast paced googly, the batsman missed the ball altogether as it crashed into the middle stump.

But that wasn't the surprising part of the incident. When the ball crashed into the stump, the stump just broke into two pieces while damaging the sound equipment and camera as well. The batsman and crowd looked stunned after the incident while Rashid, who kept smiling the entire time, just looked satisfied with his delivery.

Along with Rashid, Mohammad Nabi, and Arafat Sunny contributed to controlling the run-flow of the Vikings restricting them to a modest total of 139/4. Comilla Victorians chased down the target of 140 runs with consummate ease with 11 balls to spare thanks to Imrul Kayes (45 off 36) and Jos Buttler’s (44 off 31) innings.
