WATCH | Virat Kohli mocks Steve Smith after horrible review

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy, earlier this year, saw incidents like DRS-gate and mock-gate grabbing headlines. In the first ODI at Chepauk, Steve Smith combined both with a horrendous review and was comically mocked by Virat Kohli who raised his finger after the review was deemed unsuccessful.

In the first ODI of the series, Australia got off to a great start with Nathan Coulter-Nile and later Marcus Stoinis putting the pressure on the Indian batting lineup early on by sending the first five batsmen packing with the score of just 87 runs. However, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya consolidated the innings with some brilliant batting and just when it looked like India were about to post a huge total, the latter was dismissed.

With the wind back in their sails, the Aussies started putting the pressure back on the Indian lower order. The incident in question occurred on the third ball of the 45th over when Stoinis, who had been hit for a boundary on the previous ball, started appealing for an LBW decision against Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, not only did the direction of the ball imply that bat had been involved in the delivery, there were two sounds as well.

Stoinis' incessant appealing forced Smith to go upstairs with a review. The review was damning as not only had the ball hit the bat first but it had missed the pad by a country mile when it went through. While Smith was left to rue his bad decision, the fun for the Indian fans was not done. The camera panned towards Kohli, who, sitting in his chair, did a little dance before, sarcastically, raising his finger.

This is the first minor incident in the limited overs series and if the Tests are anything to go by, the Aussies will be waiting to return the favour as soon as possible.
