BCCI forms internal complaints committee to prevent sexual harassment

BCCI, in a move to make work environment safer for women, has constituted a four-member internal complaints committee to prevent sexual harassment against women. The committee will deal with any atrocities towards women and the members of the committee will have tenure of one year.

The BCCI took some major steps on Friday and formed a committee in line with Sexual Harassment Against Women at Workplace Act 2013 (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal), which states that any company should have an internal committee that deals with any atrocities towards women.

The four-member committee will be headed by BCCI employee Karina Kripalani and also includes GM (Cricket Operations) Saba Karim and Rupawati Rao as other members. The three members will be joined by Veena Gowda, who will be the external member of the committee. The tenure of all the members is fixed at 1 year. 

"This is a welcome move. It should have happened much earlier. We have a robust women's cricket system in place along with a lot of female employees," a senior BCCI official said to Zee news India.
