England replace India at No.1 spot in ODI rankings

England, who won convincingly against the Kiwis in the recently concluded away ODI series, have climbed up the ICC One Day International rankings to claim the top from India. England’s last series defeat in ODIs came on the tour of India and since then, have won all the ODI series they have played.

England, who are on top of the ICC ODI rankings, are 3 rating points ahead of the Indian Cricket team, who are in the second spot. After the bitter loss in the Champions League against Pakistan and the brutal Ashes loss, England showed their strength in the ODIs and won the away ODIs series against Australia convincingly by 4-1.

After Australia, they toured New Zealand and defeated them in a nail biting ODI series by 3-2. England has not looked back after their series loss on the tour of India and have shown supreme form in the ODIs, which has helped them in reaching the number 1 spot.

Next up in their ODI schedule is a single ODI against Scotland in June and then, they will be up against Australia, before the much-awaited clash against India in July, in which they are scheduled to play 3 T20s, 3 ODIs and 5 Tests. Australia will be touring the Eoin Morgan led side in mid-June for a 5 match ODI series.

What would be interesting to see is if England can hold on to the top spot, given the upcoming series against the 2 top teams in the world. India would also have chance to go past England when they tour England later this year.
