According to a media report, former Australia captain George Bailey is all set to join the Cricket Australia panel. The 37-year-old batsman, who plays in the Big Bash T20 league, will join the current men's team coach Justin Langer and chairman Trevor Hohns on the selection committee.

Bailey, who last played for Australia in 2017, will don the role of a national selector in the Cricket Australia (CA) board’s committee. While he still features for the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL and the Tasmania Cricket team in the Sheffield Shield, the ex-skipper will still be eligible for the new big role. The unveiled reports so far is according to a  source with knowledge of the appointment who in-turn informed The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age about it, on Monday.

After official confirmation of the same by the CA, Bailey will join an elite list of only three Australian international cricketers who have donned the role of a selector after bringing an end to their international career. The first to do exactly that was the legendary Don Bradman, followed by World Cup-winning captain Michael Clarke.

Bailey donned the baggy green in five Tests, featured in 90 ODIs and 30 T20Is for Australia.
