Glenn Phillips has always captured the imagination of fans with his unbelievable efforts on the field, and he decided to extend that further, but with the willow this time. The New Zealand all-rounder went left-handed before notching a four and a six with powerful drives through the covers.
But it was Phillips who stole the show with his unbelievable shot-making towards the end of the first innings. With the score reading 164/6 with two overs remaining, Phillips smashed off-spinner Dean Foxcroft for a six before changing guards to bat left-handed in the last ball of the over.
With the bowler erring in his length, Phillips pulled out an excellent cover drive, splitting the field with precision, to earn a boundary and end the over with 17 runs. And he was not done yet! He once again turned to a southpaw to get an advantageous match-up over left-arm spinner Jayden Lennox in the penultimate ball of the final over.
The Central Districts skipper tried to go away from the arc as he delivered one close to the wide line on the offside. But the New Zealand all-rounder reached for it before lofting the ball over extra cover for a maximum.
Phillips surprised himself as the ball sailed over the boundary ropes and the umpire raised his hand to signal a six. The players were also shell-shocked, with Ajaz Patel looking around in disbelief after the ball cleared the ropes with ease.
Just Glenn Phillips things!
Glenn Phillips loved it so much, he had to do it twice 😍🔥
