The pressure of a mega-event can often disbalance the mental setup and lead to mismanaged work. The opening ceremony of the 2025 Indian Premier League was equally a big event in the context of the tournament and the operations guys at the venue seemed to have erred the scoreboard at the start.

Winning the first toss in his first-ever IPL assignment as a captain, the toss favored Rajat Patidar after a grand opening ceremony in the bonanza event. As KKR continued with the anticipated opening pair of Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine in their curtain raiser, they kicked off with a four in the first over as the former cut through the gates via the square of the wicket on the off side, before RCB earned a redeemed a dropped catch.

Following a boundary on the second ball of the opening over, de Kock crunched a length ball outside the off stump through point for a four. Subsequently, Suyash Sharma running in from square leg dropped a sitter before Hazlewood redeemed the botch with the southpaw’s scalp on the immediate next ball. Despite the action-packed first over in the match, the attention shifted to the scoreboard glitch that showed Virat Kohli bowling instead of Hazlewood, sparking a Twitterverse buzz.
