But now the franchise has been put on sale, and the team is none other than the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru. According to sources, RCB has now been put up for sale and fans could expect a new owner of the team anytime soon. It is also being reported that the sale process will be completed by 31st March 2026.

After RCB had won the IPL 2025 season, the team had constantly been in the headlines. The main reason for the owner selling it is due to the fact that the company is focused mainly on alcohol and beverages. And owning a team in the IPL has been a non core asset for them, due to which they want to get rid of the same.

With RCB winning the title, the rumours of Diageo selling off the same emerged. This happened after the stampede at the Victory Parade in Bengaluru, and at that time, the team also received a negative image. At this point of time, Diageo told the Bombay Stock Exchange that the news of the sale of Royal Challengers Bengaluru

As per the latest updates by Diageo on 5 November, the company has done a review of their subsidiary Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd (RCSPL). The talks of Royal Challengers Bengaluru being put up on sale have persisted for a few months. He batted for Pune but lost the team to Sahara. Later he also tried to get Kochi but lost it to Rendezvous, and both teams went on to go defunct in the IPL. Noting the fact that RCB could be put on sale, Adar Poonawalla published a tweet saying that at the right valuation the team would be a great asset.

  • JSW Group

It might be shocking to know that even JSW Group has shown interest to buy RCB in this sale. The company already owns a 50% stake of Delhi Capitals. And if they are going for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in this deal, they would have to sell the stake of Delhi Capitals.

  • Adani Group

Adani Group has also shown interest in buying an IPL team for a long time. They have also tried numerous times to enter the IPL market and taking a look at this opportunity, the company will be eager to seize it.
