IND W vs SA W | Twitter and Sinalo Jafta in splits as Sneh Rana aims for Paris but goes Rome

Batters often get fortunate during their stay at the crease, and Sneh Rana was yet another instance of that during the World Cup match against South Africa. The Indian all-rounder, though accidentally, picked the perfect gap while going for a shot as wicketkeeper Sinalo Jafta laughed helplessly.

‌South Africa Women did well to restrict India to 102/6 after opting to bowl in the ODI World Cup group game at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. But as in both the previous matches, the lower order stood tall to frustrate the Proteas.

Walking in at a precarious situation, Richa Ghosh built a crucial 51-run stand for the seventh wicket with Amanjot Kaur. Even after Amanjot’s dismissal, the wicketkeeper-batter continued to torment the visitors, completing her half-century in an excellent display of power hitting.

She was well-supported by Sneh Rana, who played second fiddle in another important partnership that took the Women in Blue past the 200-run mark. Sneh got off the mark with a backfoot cover drive before getting fortunate with an outside edge that sailed to the ropes.

Her luck shone bright again as she tried to paddle Marizanne Kapp over fine leg, but the ball made its way past the short third fielder. The bowling all-rounder made contact with the back side of the bat, as wicketkeeper Sinalo Jafta, who was standing up to the stumps, moved down the leg along with the line of the ball.

But she could not believe her eyes as the ball sailed in the opposite direction to kiss the ropes again. All Jafta could do was let out a helpless and wide grin with extended arms as a frustrated Kapp asked her to move back for the next ball.

Twitter was in splits and echoed Jafta’s feelings as Sneh continued her charming stay at the crease and India inched closer to 250.
