Cricket arenas hardly get more iconic than the Sydney Cricket Ground, and cricket superstars barely get bigger than Virat Kohli. An amalgamation of the two unfailingly produces a blockbuster and the talisman got started early on Saturday, producing some fielding that had the SCG chanting his name.

‌India lost the toss once again in the third ODI and were asked to bowl first on one of the better batting tracks in the country. With the series already done and dusted in the hosts' favour, the encounter was largely for bragging rights but also had emotional value attached to it, given it could potentially be the final time Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma appear in Indian colours Down Under. The first bit of genius from Kohli came midway through the 23rd over with Matthew Short up against Washington Sundar, the score 124/2. Sundar generously flighted a delivery on length and Short was quick to get down on one knee as he slammed a sweep square with all his might. The Kookaburra travelled off his willow at frightening speed and before anyone had had a chance to blink, it had nestled into Kohli's palm who defused the venom on the shot with brilliant technique as he allowed his hands to give and absorb the impact. Replays showed the vetran was clearly taken back by the speed at which the ball came as his eyes popped out and face scrunched, the 36-year-old only just managing to get his head out of harm's way. While Kohli appeared nonchalant about his effort even as skipper Shubman Gill and company passionately mobbed him, the crowd had all the fuel it needed to get going. A couple overs later, Kohli made another sharp stop at extra cover when a firmly struck drive from Alex Carey met his boot and stopped a potential boundary, further egging on the crowd. Kohli allowd himself yet another wry smile and within moments, the entire ground was echoing chants of "Kohli, Kohli".

The Indian talisman seemed to look at the adoring crowd with a mix of awe and nostalgia, inducing similar emotions in Twitterati.
