IND vs NZ | Twitter in disbelief as Harshit-Conway story continues courtesy of Pandya’s stunning effort

Devon Conway continued to be haunted by the Harshit Rana nightmare during the third T20I against India in Guwahati on Sunday. The New Zealand opener tried in vain to clear the in-field, with Hardik Pandya making no mistake at mid off, as the young pacer triggered off a five-star celebration.

‌Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav once again elected to bowl after winning the toss against New Zealand in the third T20I in Guwahati on Sunday. And soon he was rewarded for the same by Harshit Rana, who continued to torment Devon Conway.

The Delhi pacer, who started India’s innings with the ball, did not have to wait for too long to get his favourite batter yet again on the tour with the third ball of the first over. Just as Harshit bowled a good length delivery from around the wicket, that shaped in a bit, Conway was premeditated as he stepped out blindly before floating the ball towards mid off.

The batter was expecting the ball to pitch and straighten or seam away, but it came in with the angle to outfox him. As a result, the batter did not get the room he wanted, meeting the ball in the inside half and at the bottom.

The wicket was Hardik Pandya’s as much as it was Harshit’s, as the all-rounder timed his jump perfectly to pouch a special one. And a beaming Harshit Rana did not waste any time to gesture five with his right hand as Rinku Singh also came running to the bowler with the same gesture.

It was in response to Devon Conway’s friendly meetup with Harshit ahead of the match, with the Kiwi repeating the pacer’s celebration from the previous game on a lighter note before hugging him. Twitter was in splits as Harshit quickly added another chapter to their young but storied rivalry.

A spinner producing a wicket with an inswinging delivery is an aberration, but Dhananjaya de Silva did exactly that against England in the second ODI in Colombo. The off-spinner got the ball to swing prodigiously against Rehan Ahmed to go through his defences to hit the top of off-stump.
