Helen Keller summed up Abhishek Sharma's attitude towards cricket perfectly when she propounded, "life is a daring adventure or nothing at all." However, that very style dispelled the opener to failure in Vizag against New Zealand as a first-ball heave resulted in an excellent Devon Conway catch.
New Zealand rode on the back of a blistering 62 from Tim Seifert off just 36 deliveries and an unbeaten 18-ball 39 from Daryl Mitchell towards the back end of their innings to post a daunting target of 216 for India, in the fourth T20 international in Vishakhapatnam on Wednesday. However, at the other end stood the top-tanked batter in the world Abhishek Sharma, with scores of 84 and 68 already in the first and third games respectively, the latter an unbeaten 20-ball effort that saw India chase down 155 in just 10 overs. The Kiwis had a tall hill to climb, but some fortune and unequivocal brilliance meant Abhishek departed for his second golden duck of the series instead.
Matt Henry was handed new-ball duties as usual for the Black Caps and the experienced right-arm quick steamed in from over the wicket, with a steelye-eyed Abhishek waiting to pounce. Henry banged the shiny new Kookaburra on a length angling into the channel, a typical first delivery for any all-format pacer worth his salt, but it only mad ehim predictable to Abhishek. The youngster shuffled to his left to create room and charged down the deck before flaying his arms at the ball with all the might he could conjure. However, the white rock struck low on Abhishek's willow and soared into the night sky towards deep backward point, the domain of Devon Conway given Seifert was donning the wicket-keeping gloves. The veteran initially stood glued to his spot, struggling to track where the ball had went, and once he caught wind of it Conway took a quick couple of steps to make sure he got to the ball in time. However, the Kookaburra once again eluded him as Conway's eyes darted around but in a brilliant piece of play, he dove forward at the last moment and almost picked up the ball off the surface with his right-hand to complete an excellent one-handed grab.
