Suryakumar Yadav knows how to get the crowd on his side and that quality was in full view yet again at the toss for the final T20I against New Zealand. The talismanic Indian skipper gave way to huge roars among the crowds announcing that Sanju Samson will feature in his home ground in Trivandrum.

‌With the series sealed and the majority of boxes ticked, the focus was imminently on Sanju Samson ahead of the fifth and final T20I against New Zealand in Trivandrum. The wicketkeeper-batter has been through a lean patch and is badly in need of a turnaround at the Greenfield International Stadium, his home turf.

With the home faithful thronging the stadium to catch a glimpse of their local hero, only one question went through all of their minds. Will Samson feature in the final game, or will he be replaced by Ishan Kishan at the top of the order?

But captain Suryakumar Yadav, who walked in with the much-awaited team sheet, had the answer to the million-dollar question. The Indian captain was on the right side of the spin of the coin as the fans \greeted him with a loud cheer.

And who better than SKY to please the crowd and have them right behind him? With Simon Doull checking on the team composition, the veteran batter started off mentioning that the side had three changes and he named Ishan Kishan and Axar Patel before fumbling on the third name.

Just as the heartbeats raised a little in a brief moment of silence, he was quick to calm them in his usual jovial manner. The Indian skipper said, “Whatever the change is, don’t worry, Trivandrum, Sanju Samson is definitely playing today.”

That gave way to huge roars from the crowd, and Twitter was relieved that Sanju Samson got a chance to play in his backyard, in front of his home fans.
