Sunrisers Hyderabad will be having some massive changes in their line-up for the initial games in the Indian Premier League 2026. Pat Cummins, their skipper, is unavailable for the first few games of the tournament. And in his place, the team needed someone experienced to lead their side to glory.

For this, they have decided to go with Ishan Kishan, who recently made the finest comeback to the Indian cricket team. He was not a part of the squad for a long time but got included in the team for the New Zealand series and the T20 World Cup. Without wasting any opportunity, he gave his best for the team to regain his spot in the line-up.

And now, opportunities seem to flow for Ishan Kishan at this moment. for the first few games in the upcoming season. Moreover, Abhishek Sharma will be the vice captain of the team, bringing down more responsibilities on the young Indian talent.

Our Take

Pat Cummins has been one of the finest captains in recent times, as he took Australia to World Cup glory. Being with SRH, he also helped the team to reach the finals in 2024, where they just fell short. But in his absence, they needed a player who had experience in leading a T20 side. Ishan Kishan was undoubtedly the best choice for the same.

He recently led Jharkhand in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. And that tournament turned out to be a success for Ishan Kishan, both as a player and as a captain. He helped Jharkhand to win the tournament and even finished as the highest scorer of the tournament. So, Kishan won't just be there to give instructions; he will be there to lead from the front.
