When the Championship season entered its decisive phase, Frank Lampard urged his Coventry City players to rise to the occasion in their final two matches as they chase a play-off place. Despite a 3–1 loss to bottom side Plymouth, Coventry sit sixth in the table, one point behind Bristol City and three clear of both Middlesbrough and Millwall, with all teams having two games left.

Since Lampard's arrival, the Sky Blues have dramatically improved, climbing from 17th, just two points above the relegation zone and to the play-off spots. Speaking to BBC CWR, Lampard acknowledged the progress, saying,“We’ve amassed a huge amount of points from where we were… absolutely we would’ve taken sixth with two games left.”Fortunately for Coventry, their rivals also stumbled as Bristol City lost 3–1 at Luton, while Middlesbrough suffered a 2–1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Coventry now face Luton next at Kenilworth Road, with the Hatters fighting to avoid relegation. Lampard admitted the performance at Plymouth fell below expectations but remained focused on the opportunity ahead, stressing that his squad must now meet the moment. Coventry’s shape will stay similar for the crucial clash, as they aim to secure their play-off destiny.
