Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez will marry next summer in Madeira after the World Cup. Ronaldo has chosen Funchal Cathedral, inaugurated in 1514, for the ceremony, followed by a hotel reception. The couple got engaged in August after 9 years together and share 2 daughters, while Ronaldo has 3 more children from surrogates.

As the news of Cristiano Ronaldo’s long-awaited wedding gathers pace, fresh reports reveal that the legendary forward has chosen a historic venue in his hometown of Madeira for the ceremony. Ronaldo, 40, and Georgina Rodriguez, 31, who announced their engagement in August after a nine-year relationship, are expected to tie the knot next summer once the World Cup concludes.

According to Jornal da Madeira, the couple will exchange vows at the iconic Funchal Cathedral, a landmark inaugurated in 1514 and regarded as the oldest and most significant place of worship in the region. The cathedral’s carved Madeira cedar roof and its location less than 2 miles from the hospital where Ronaldo was born make it a sentimental choice. The ceremony will be followed by a lavish reception at a luxury hotel in Madeira. The location also lies close to Nacional da Madeira, Ronaldo’s youth club where he played for 2 years before joining Sporting Lisbon at the age of 12.

Ronaldo and Georgina, who first met in 2016 while she was working at a Gucci store in Spain, share 2 children together, Alana aged 7 and Bella aged 3, and raise Ronaldo’s three older children Cristiano Jr aged 15, and twins Mateo and Eva Maria aged 8. The football icon has said his children encouraged him to propose, while Georgina continues to grow her profile as a model and entrepreneur.
