At the weekend, Chelsea continued their impressive revival under Enzo Maresca with a dominant 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, marking their third consecutive win in all competitions. Following earlier triumphs against Benfica in the Champions League and Liverpool in the Premier League, Chelsea’s youthful lineup shone once again, with goals from Josh Acheampong, Pedro Neto, and Reece James. Despite moments of defensive vulnerability and a red card for Malo Gusto, the team showed growing confidence and cohesion.

Amid mounting defensive injuries, Chelsea are reportedly exploring further reinforcements. According to Il Messaggero, via La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Blues have expressed interest in former Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares, who now plays for Lazio under Maurizio Sarri. The 25-year-old Portuguese defender has flourished in Serie A, registering nine assists in 36 appearances and becoming a key attacking outlet down the left flank.

Described as “super fast” by Shay Given, Tavares has attracted attention from top clubs, including Juventus and Chelsea, though Lazio value him at around £43 million. With Marc Cucurella excelling at left-back, Chelsea may consider Tavares as a cost-effective backup. His resurgence in Italy, combined with his familiarity with English football, positions him as a potential target as Maresca looks to strengthen his squad further.
