As the Gujarat Giants faced UP Yoddhas at the SDAT Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium on Thursday, they secured a thrilling 41-39 victory, completing a double over their opponents and registering back-to-back wins. Rakesh Sungroya was the star of the night, scoring a career-best 20 raid points, while Lucky Sharma contributed with four crucial tackles. Despite a valiant effort from Guman Singh, who achieved a Super 10 and reached 600 career raid points, the Yoddhas could not clinch the win.

The match began at a frenetic pace, with both sides trading early points. Rakesh’s raids proved decisive, as he scored 10 of Gujarat’s first 15 points and orchestrated the first ALL OUT to give his team a 20-16 lead. By halftime, the Giants were ahead 22-19. In the second half, Rakesh continued his dominance, leading another ALL OUT that extended the lead to ten points.

UP Yoddhas fought back, with Guman Singh and Bhavani Rajput scoring to level the game at 36-36, and again at 38-38 in the final minute. In the penultimate raid, Mohammadreza Shadloui put Gujarat ahead 40-39, and Ankit Dahiya sealed the win with a final tackle on Guman Singh. This victory keeps Gujarat Giants’ playoff hopes alive, while Dabang Delhi K.C. had already confirmed their top-eight finish despite an earlier loss.
