Team India Boosted as Shubman Gill Eyes Faster Comeback from Neck Injury

Finally, some positive news in the Indian camp related to Shubman Gill. The Indian captain in Tests and ODIs has started to recover well from the neck injury. And with this, the BCCI is now expected to take a decision on his availability for the T20I series against South Africa soon.

1. Gill's Injury Updates

But it didn't take much time for the BCCI to realise that it won't be possible for Shubman Gill to play the match. So, they decided to announce Rishabh Pant as the stand-in captain of the team and Gill was released from the squad. And Gill was eventually ruled out of the ODI series against South Africa as well. In his place, the BCCI decided to announce KL Rahul as the stand-in captain of the Indian team. Since then, fans had been waiting for an update on Shubman Gill, which has by some reports.

The reports also say that Shubman Gill will start his batting practice soon. He is not feeling any sort of discomfort which could prevent him from batting in the practice sessions. And for his participation in the T20I series, the BCCI selectors will be taking a call on it as soon as possible.

2. Gill's Injury

He even spent the next few days in the hospital, and was not a part of the team for the remainder of the game. After India lost the first Test, Shubman Gill was also discharged from the hospital. The showed that Gill had his neck covered with the neck braces.

While fans expected the injury not to be severe, it meant Gill to miss out a few games for the Indian team. As he begins his recovery, fans hope they would be able to see him back in action in the T20I series against South Africa. The series is all set to commence from 9 December, as a call on Gill's availability will be taken soon.

Shubman Gill has been a crucial part of India's T20I side for the past few years. Although he missed out on the T20I side for the last few months, he made his comeback in the Asia Cup 2025.
