Mitchell Starc never fails to disappoint with the new ball, and he was at it again in the second Test against England at the Gabba in Brisbane on Thursday. The veteran Australian pacer was on the money with the pink ball as he packed off Ben Duckett with a peach in the last ball of the first over.

‌With England trailing the five-Test Ashes 1-0, captain Ben Stokes decided to bat first in the second Test against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane on Thursday. And veteran pacer Mitchell Starc was licking his fingers with the prospect of bowling with the pink ball on a fresh deck with some grass over it.

And he did not disappoint! Red ball, white ball or pink ball, the Aussies have a safe bet in the left-arm pacer who has now made a habit of picking up first-over wickets. And he repeated the feat with a peach of the last ball of the first over to pack off Ben Duckett.

Running in from over the wicket, he pitched the pink cherry on a good length around off stump with the ball moving away from the left-hander lately. Duckett was already committed on the front foot to defend, but it was too good a delivery to face first up as the batter ended up nicking it to Marnus Labuschagne at first slip.

And guess what, the lanky pacer was not done yet as he returned to dismiss Ollie Pope in his next over. After surviving the first two balls from Starc, the England vice-captain tried to cut a short and wide delivery and ended up playing it onto the timber.

Starc and Australia were chuffed to get another early wicket as Twitter stood up to salute the breakthrough expert, Mitchell Starc.
