It is good news for the Mumbai Indians fans, as they will now have . The franchise already has a vast base across different T20 leagues. But now, there is yet another team which has been added to the same, providing them with multiple opportunities to win more and more trophies.
This time, the team has acquired Oval Invincibles in The Hundred. Not only were they able to acquire the team, it has also been renamed to MI London. So, all the Mumbai Indians supporters will now have yet another team to support in the T20 leagues around the world.
1. Big Change in The Hundred
For The Hundred, the England Cricket Board had invited companies to invest in the teams and acquire a stake in them. At the start, the ECB had opened just 49% of the stakes from the team but soon it was changed, noting the active presence of Indian companies and franchise owners in the same. But the MI franchise stuck to the 49%, and gave their best to acquire a team in the tournament.
They have finally been able to do the same, and have acquired the Oval Invincibles team. Surrey Cricket Club holds 51% of the team's shares while the remaining are now being held by Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited (RSBVL). The final paperworks for this deal have also been completed, and Oval Invincibles is now set to be renamed as for the 2026 season.
The ECB made a public release, which said, “The eight partnerships combined represent a valuation for the teams of over GBP 975 million. As previously announced, over GBP 500 million is now set to be . This includes a dedicated GBP 50 million commitment to grassroots cricket, ensuring the game continues to thrive at every level, with the remainder distributed to professional counties.”
2. All Teams of MI Family
With , Mumbai Indians have now expanded their family in the T20 leagues to six. Having a new edition, they will also be hoping to have another T20 League trophy being added to their cabinet. Here are all the teams which are currently being owned by the franchise.
IPL: Mumbai Indians
It all started for the franchise with the Indian Premier League, back in 2008, when the initial season was played. They are also the most successful team in the tournament, having won five IPL titles across all the seasons combined. Moreover, this team is having stalwarts such as Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and many more, playing together.
WPL: Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians is also having its team present in the Women's Premier League. The franchise is also able to continue its dominance in the WPL, being the best team in the history of the tournament. Another team which is in the family of Mumbai Indians, is the MI New York in Major League Cricket. Although it has been just a few seasons of this tournament which have been played, MI New York has still established themselves as the most dominant team in the tournament. They have already won two titles in the tournament, winning in 2023 and 2025. With players such as Kieron Pollard, Michael Bracewell, Trent Boult, and a lot more together, they have proved to be a strong side.
ILT20: MI Emirates
The MI franchise has its fifth team in the International League T20, where they own the MI Emirates franchise. The team has proven themselves to be the most consistent in the tournament history, as they have been to the playoffs in every single edition of the tournament. Along with that, they have also been able to win the 2024 edition, adding another trophy to their cabinet.
