England Star Claims Shubman Gill Isnt Ready for All-Format Captaincy

Shubman Gill had various ups and downs in 2025 itself. He got promoted to captain in the Test and ODI formats, and even made his comeback to the T20I format as the vice captain of the team. Shortly after that, he was removed from the team for the T20 World Cup, missing another edition.

Shubman Gill can't do that. Too much burden for him. He can't be the captain of all formats. It is too much for him.”

Unfortunately, his comeback didn't go as expected. He opened for the team in all innings with Abhishek Sharma. But not even a single time, he was able to bring up a big score for the Indian team. His troubles continued even in the T20I series against Australia and South Africa. In the India tour of Australia, he was able to do well in a few games but they got affected by rain. But in the series against South Africa at home, he scored 36 runs in 4 matches, including a duck, and even missed on the fifth game.

Shubman Gill is now setting his eyes to make a comeback in the ODI format. He suffered a neck injury in the Test series against South Africa. This also resulted in the Indian team going without their Test captain for the remainder of the series. Eventually, India did miss the availability of Gill, who was also the in 2025.
