IND vs WI | Twitter not surprised as Bumrah turns to autopilot mode to churn out toe crushers

Jasprit Bumrah rattling the stumps of batters is no new sight to cricket buffs, and the Indian pacer repeated the ritual against the West Indies during the first Test in Ahmedabad. Bumrah’s pinpoint yorkers were too hot to handle as Justin Greaves and Johann Layne saw their stumps flying.

‌West Indies had a torrid start after captain Roston Chase opted to bat against India in the first Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday. The new ball duo of Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah sent back the visitors’ openers cheaply before the former went on to pick three more wickets to reduce them to 42/4.

The Windies managed to go past the 100-run mark, courtesy of a 48-run association between Shai Hope and captain Roston Chase. Then, all-rounder Justin Greaves and Khary Pierre added another valuable partnership before Washington Sundar dismissed the latter plumb in front of the wicket.

That was the perfect opening that India were waiting for as Bumrah repeated his usual ritual from the other end. The pacer steamed in to deliver an inch-perfect yorker off the last ball of his 12th over. The well-set Greaves (32) had no clue as the ball crashed into the base of off-stump before uprooting it.

He went one step better in his next over, dismissing newcomer Johann Layne with another fuller delivery. The ball was a tad shorter, compared to the earlier dismissal, but it seamed in further to hit off and middle together.

But the result was the same as Layne played all over it to find his stumps go for a cartwheel. Bumrah’s heroics wth the ball meant the Windies were on the verge of folding out, at 153/9, in just the second session of the day.

Twitter was not at all surprised as Bumrah did Bumrah things and sent the timber flying.
