IND vs WI | Twitter in splits as Warrican's bat ends at short-leg in bizarrely hilarious dismissal

Eyebrows were raised when West Indies went from domination to underdogs, but the world has largely stopped caring now that they devolved further to become international cricket's punching bag. During one such rout in Ahmedabad against India, Jomel Warrican inadvertently added some humor to the mix.

Mohammed Siraj's seventh wicket for India against West Indies in Ahmedabad came in comical fashion

West Indies speed ran their way to an innings defeat in Ahmedabad on Thursday to go 1-0 down in the two-match Test series, still seeking their first points in the latest World Test Championship cycle. Only two of the top-seven batters crossed into double digits and by Lunch on Day 3, the match was already a foregone conclusion as the Windies still had nearly a 200-run first innings deficit with just five wickets remaining. Nevertheless, Alick Athanaze and Justin Greaves gave their fans something to cheer with a 46-run stand but Washington Sundar ultimately broke through to signal the beginning of the end. By this point even the Caribbean players seemed to be in a hurry to go home, exemplified by the peculiar dismissal of Jomel Warrican.

The spinner faced the task of surviving a fresh Mohammed Siraj spell who was beginning to get incredulous amounts of reverse swing with the scuffed up red cherry. The right-arm quick delivered one such inswinger on length that tailed in late towards the stumps but Warrican had already made up his mind to swing without restraint as reflected in his open stance and unabashed whip of the arms. Unsurprisingly, the ball caught the bat high on the splice and ballooned towards mid-off where Shubman Gill pocketed the simplest of catches. However, such was the ferocity of Warrican's flourish that the willow too went flying over a ducking short-leg's head and onto the grass, much to the unbridled amusement of his rivals.

Twitterati was equally enthralled.
