IND vs PAK | Twitter laughs at Pakistan recreating infamous blooper again as collision leads to catch drop

Cricket has gone from white clothing to coloured, day games to floodlight fiestas, and deadbat defending to six smashing without much ado. But one thing that has remained the same all these decades is Pakistan's fielding, as was on showcase in Colombo during their Women's World Cup clash with India.

Pakistan produced a disciplined bowling performance on Sunday to keep a world-classh Indian batting line-up to 247, with Diana Baig scalping four while Fatima Sana stood out for her discipline and two scalps. It marked the first time that the Women in Green managed to bowl out their neighbours in a 50-over game, a record that was put under threat by some sloppy fielding at the fag end of the first innings.
India began the last over on 236/8, with a flying Richa Ghosh on strike against Baig fresh off a wicket maiden. The Indian big-hitter threw the first punch with a pre-emptive reverse hit for four over third man before chipping the next ball over covers for two more. However, Baig responded with a good short delivery and Richa could only manage a top-edge as the Kookaburra took to the skies. Wicket-keeper Sidra Nawaz rushed to the ball, her being the obvious choice for the catch given she had the gloves, but Aliya Pervaiz was slightly closer at short midwicket and decided to have a run for it too. Inevitably, the two clashed with none heeding the other's call and even though Nawaz still somehow got a glove under the ball, the Kookaburra refused to stick as the duo avoided a serious collision.
Nawaz was livid with her compatriot but ultimately it did not cost the team much, besides making them the target of yet more trolling on Twitter.
