AUS vs IND | Marnus Labuschagne dropped from ODIs while Maxwell to miss T20Is against India

Australia announced its ODI and T20I squad for the white-ball tour of India starting on October 19. India will play three ODIs and five T20Is Down Under, with Mitchell Marsh continuing as captain of both sides, and the duo of Matt Renshaw and Mitchell Owen expected to make a comeback.

Australia will play three ODIs and five T20Is against India, with the first ODI scheduled to start in Perth on October 19. The second and third games will be played in Adelaide and Sydney on October 23 and 25, respectively, before action shifts to Canberra for the first T20I four days later. The five-match series will go on till November 8, with Brisbane hosting the last game of the tour.
The Aussies have dropped Marnus Labuschagne, who scored a big century for his side Queensland in a Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania on Monday, from the ODI squad. The Queensland skipper has been on a woeful run of form in ODIs, not managing a single fifty-plus score in his last 10 games.
Matt Renshaw has benefitted from the move as he comes into the 50-over squad and is in line to make his debut in the format. The left-handed batter last featured for the national side more than two years ago, when he played in a Test match against India in Delhi in February 2023.
Also in line to make a bow in ODIs is Mitchell Owen, who has played 10 T20Is, scoring 149 runs at an average of 24.83 and an impressive strike rate of 161.95. Owen was expected to make his debut in the South Africa series itself, but an unfortunate concussion ruled him out of the ODI leg.
Renshaw, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, and Cooper Connolly are only part of the ODI team, while Tim David, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Kuhnemann, and Sean Abbott will figure only in the T20 setup. Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell, who suffered a fractured wrist ahead of the first game against New Zealand, remains unavailable for the T20Is against India.
"We have named a squad for the ODI series and first two games of the T20 series, as there will be some management through the back end of the series as individuals prepare for the summer through Sheffield Shield cricket," chair of selectors George Bailey said. "The majority of the T20 squad will remain together as it's an important period in the build towards the World Cup next year; however, we are trying to strike a balance to ensure we simultaneously prepare certain individuals for the Test series ahead."
