Bowlers giving a send-off to willow-wielders is no new thing, but Fahima Khatun had England batter Sophia Dunkley in splits in the Women’s World Cup match. The Bangladesh leg-spinner trapped her in front of the wicket before breaking into an impromptu dance move, ending it with a send-off.

Bangladesh showcased their penchant for dancing on the big stage once again in the Women's World Cup against England in Guwahati

England were sitting pretty after dismissing Bangladesh cheaply in a group game of the Women’s ODI World Cup in Guwahati. After opting to bowl at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium, England rode on their spin bowling attack to skittle out Bangladesh for 178 runs in 49.4 overs.

Sophie Ecclestone was the pick among the England bowlers with an impressive spell of 3/24 in 10 overs, while her slow bowling partners Linsey Smith, Charlie Dean, and Alice Capsey all picked up two wickets. With no scoreboard pressure, England sat pretty at 69/2 at the end of 18 overs.

Current captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and former skipper Heather Knight added 40 runs for the third wicket after the chasing side had a dicey start. However, Fahima Khatun, after conceding just four runs in her first three overs, including a maiden, had other plans as she came to bowl the 18th.

The leg-spinner first dismissed Sciver-Brunt in the second ball, with the England skipper chipping a straightforward catch to mid-wicket. In the fifth ball of the same over, she trapped new batter Sophia Dunkley in front of the wicket to turn the tide in the Tigresses' favour.

Just as the umpire raised her finger after a vociferous appeal from Fahima and co., the bowler pulled off an impromptu dance step. She ended it with a pointed finger towards the batter and then gestured towards the dressing room.

She was happy and smiling all through, and what was expected to be a feisty send-off tickled Dunkley’s funny bone as she quickly walked toward partner Knight to consult for a review. But even the review could not save her as replays showed it was an umpire’s call and the batter had to walk back.

Twitter was in splits as they enjoyed an intended fiery send-off from the leg-spinner, along with Dunkley's response to that.
