Tasmania skipper Jordan Silk won the toss and asked Queensland to bat first. Queensland faced an early blow in Jimmy Peirson (6) on the fourth ball of the fifth over when Matthew Wade caught him off Riley Meredith’s delivery. Then came an outstanding 90-run partnership for the second wicket between Jack Clayton and skipper Marnus Labuschagne. Clayton scored 64 runs off just 51 balls, with seven fours and a six. Bradley Hope dismissed him, getting him caught by Iain Carlistle. Furthermore, Labuschagne stood there in the middle and added another 89-run partnership for the third wicket with Matt Renshaw (38). Labuschagne scored a much-needed century, hitting 105 runs off 91 balls, with eight fours and two sixes. Later in the innings, Lachlan Hearne and Hugh Weibgen contributed with the knocks of 38 and 21 runs, respectively. These knocks helped Queensland post 311 runs on the board before getting bowled out in 45.3 overs. Nikhil Chaudhary scalped three wickets for Queensland but went a bit costly, conceding 66 runs in 9.3 overs. Riley Meredith, Iain Carlistle, and Matthew Kuhnemann scalped two wickets each for their side, alongside a wicket picked by Bradley Hope.

While chasing the target, Tasmania lost their first wicket in Mitchell Owen early in the second over, with the team score at just 13 runs. Following Owen’s departure, Caleb Jewell and Tim Ward stitched a match-winning partnership of 138 runs for the second wicket. Jewell scored 79 runs off 76 balls, with 13 fours, before getting caught by Hearne off Mitchell Swepson on the second ball of the 23rd over.
