Victoria won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, South Australia had a decent opening start of 41 runs in six overs. They lost their first wicket when Mackenzie Harvey (20) was dismissed at the score of 41 runs on the last ball of the sixth over. Following his departure, Jake Fraser-McGurk fell prey to Xavier Crone on the fifth ball of the 10th over, after scoring 34 runs off 29 balls, with three fours and two sixes. In quick succession on the very next ball, Crone dismissed Jason Sangha on a golden duck, getting him caught by Peter Handscomb. Then came a crucial 55-run partnership for the fourth wicket between skipper Nathan McSweeney (29) and Jake Lehman before the former was caught by Oliver Peake off Campbell Kellaway’s delivery. Later in the innings, Lehmann added another important partnership of 70 runs for the fifth wicket with Harry Manenti (34). Lehmann himself went on to play an impressive knock of 85 runs off 95 balls, with nine fours. Furthermore, wicketkeeper-batter Harry Nielson and Nathan McAndrew scored 34 and 23 runs, respectively, to help their side score 273/8 in the allotted 50 overs. Xavier Crone shone with the ball for Victoria, picking four wickets for 61 runs in his 10 overs. Besides him, Cameron McClure, Austin Anlezark, Campbell Kellaway, and Oliver Peake also claimed a wicket for their side.

While chasing the target, the Victorian side fell like a pack of cards, as they kept losing their wickets at regular intervals. They lost their four wickets at the score of just 61 runs in 15.4 overs. Following this collapse, Thomas Rogers and Sam Harper made an effort to stabilise the innings with a 52-run partnership for the third wicket. But Harry Menenti broke this partnership to give Victoria a big blow, getting Rogers (31) caught by Nielson behind the wickets. After Rogers, it was only Sam Harper who tried to put in an effort with a knock of 59 runs off 68 balls, with three fours and a six, followed by Blake Macdonald’s 30-run knock. However, these knocks couldn’t be enough for Victoria to win the game as they were eventually bundled out at 194 in 44.1 overs. Nathan McAndrew starred with the ball for South Australia, claiming a sensational five-wicket haul. He scalped five wickets for just 23 runs in 8.1 overs, alongside three wickets picked by Harry Manenti for just 32 runs in his 10 overs. Besides these two, Wes Agar also contributed with two wickets for just 33 runs in his seven overs. Eventually, South Australia registered their first win after two successive defeats in the tournament’s current edition.

Nathan McAndrew won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his outstanding five-wicket haul (5/23 in 8.1 overs), following a brilliant cameo in batting as he scored a crucial 20 runs off 16 balls in the first innings. His 20-run contribution helped Australia post a 250+ total on the board.
