Gambhir Makes a Special Appearance in the West Indies Dressing Room

India secured a clean sweep against the West Indies by winning the second match in Delhi. This was the second Test series win for Gautam Gambhir as a Head Coach. After the win, he paid a visit to the West Indies dressing room,
Darren Sammy had invited the Indian Head Coach to give some motivation to the West Indies players. And Gambhir did not disappoint in the same way, as he filled the youngsters with some words of wisdom. Noting the fact that the team has suffered a downfall over the past few years, such a type of motivation from the opposition Head Coach was needed for the West Indies.
1. Gambhir in the West Indies Dressing Room
Gautam Gambhir visited the West Indies dressing room in order to spend time with the players. The West Indies team has suffered consecutive series losses, which must have been disheartening for the team. Also, at a time after key players have announced their retirements, some motivational words were needed.
Gautam Gambhir emphasised the importance of the West Indies in international cricket. He said that the West Indies does not need World cricket, it is the World cricket which needs the West Indies. Gambhir also shared his experience of playing against the West Indies as a player.

He had a talk with several players of the team and motivated them. Rahul, having a lot of experience, decided to share his same with the West Indies players. He also told them that they create great role models for the other players who are eager to play at the international level.
2. Dominant Period of the West Indies Cricket
The West Indies cricket team had a dominant period from the 1970s to the 1990s. At that time, every team was scared to go against them. Their bowling line-up was filled with a lethal pace attack, and the team even had in-form batsmen who scored runs across every corner of the ground.

Various former cricketers have blamed the T20 leagues for the same, as they have made the players addicted to money. The team also saw retirements of players such as Andre Russell and Nicholas Pooran in 2025, to focus more on the T20 leagues.
The T20 World Cup 2024 still the team still could not reach the playoffs. This year, they endured a heavy loss against Australia in the home tests, being whitewashed.
