Ibrahim Zadran Overtakes Rohit and Virat in Latest ICC Rankings

The ICC rankings got updated a few hours ago, and fans were excited to see the new rankings. With the fresh rankings coming after Afghanistan’s series win over Bangladesh, it was a lot beneficial for them. to the second spot in the ICC ODI batsman rankings.
This puts him above Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the ICC rankings. Having a jump of eight spots shows how well Zadran performed in the ODI series against Bangladesh. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli coming back in action on 19 October, will they be able to gain their original spots back?
1. Ibrahim Zadran in Bangladesh Series
Afghanistan and Bangladesh went against each other in a three-match ODI series. This turned out to be a turning point for Ibrahim Zadran in the ICC rankings. He was strong to finish the series by scoring 213 runs in the 3 innings at an average of 71, with two half-centuries.

In the first ODI match, he was not able to perform well for the team in the chase. Zadran scored just 23 runs, with 4 boundaries. Still, Afghanistan went on to win this match by 5 wickets, taking a lead in this series.
And finally, Ibrahim Zadran thought to prove himself in the second ODI match. The Bangladeshi bowlers had an upper hand as they got the wickets of Afghanistani players in quick succession. When the entire team got out for 190, Ibrahim Zadran alone made the contribution of 95 runs. Bangladesh was bowled out for 109 runs,
Even in the final match, Ibrahim Zadran didn't disappoint. He continued his dominant form, as he went on to score 95 runs yet again. This time he missed on his century by a bare margin, being run out. Still, Afghanistan won the series with a clean sweep, and Zadran received the Player of the Series award.

Besides him, Rashid Khan has once again gained the top spot in the ICC bowlers’ ODI rankings. In the ODI series against Afghanistan, Rashid was able to pick 11 wickets for the team, dominating the Bangladeshi batsmen with ease. This has marked the comeback of Rashid Khan to the international format, as he struggled to perform well for the team over the last few games.
In the ICC ODI all-rounder rankings, three Afghanistani players are present in the top five. Azmatullah Omarzai holds the top spot in these rankings, with Mohammad Nabi present at number three. Along with that, Rashid Khan has also received a push, which puts him at number four in the rankings.
