India will now be going against Australia for the three-match ODI series starting from 19 October. This will also mark the comeback of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to the 50-over format of the game. At the same time, there have been speculations that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
But the BCCI Vice President, Rajeev Shukla, was quick enough to talk about the same. Recently, he dismissed all the retirement rumours surrounding Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He also talked over the importance of both players for the Indian team in the ODI format.
1. Gautam Gambhir on RoKo
Rajeev Shukla is not the only one who has talked about the retirement rumours of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The Indian Head Coach, Gautam Gambhir also reacted to the same. After India secured a clean sweep against the West Indies, Gambhir was present in the Press Conference.
Less questions were asked related to the team's performance against the West Indies. Plus, more importance was put forward on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the 2027 World Cup. Although Gambhir didn't confirm whether they will be a part of the team or not,
Gambhir emphasised on the fact that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are quality players for the Indian cricket team. He said that the World Cup is currently 2.5 years away, and it is necessary for the team to stay in the present.
The Indian Head Coach too hopes for two players to have their best in the tour of Australia. All matches are now crucial for both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to mark their spot in the Indian team. The BCCI has brought back the Merit system for their selection in the 2027 World Cup.
2. India's ODI Schedule Till 2027 World Cup
The Indian team will be playing in a total of 9 ODI series as of now, before the 2027 World Cup. Majority of them will be played at home, allowing the Indian fans to enjoy the Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's union before they retire. Their comeback was scheduled to take place in August 2025.
India was set to play against Bangladesh, but the series was called off by the BCCI. The Indian team declined to play as the series was rescheduled to be played in September 2026. Earlier, it was scheduled to start from 17 August,
Out of the 9 ODI series which the team will play before the 2027 World Cup, only three will be away. It all starts now with the three-match ODI series against Australia from 19 October 2025. All the ODI series are of three matches each, and fans hope Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will make their presence in all of them.

This schedule will be remembered by every Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli fan around the country. Since Rajeev Shukla has denied the rumours of their retirement, it is expected that they will be a part of the team for all 27 ODI matches ahead of the 2027 World Cup.
