BAN vs WI | Litton Das returns to lead Tigers against Windies as Soumya Sarkar faces axe again

Bangladesh have named a 15-man squad for the first two T20Is against West Indies in Chattogram beginning October 27, the same day that they sealed the ODIs 2-1. Litton Das is set return for the first time since getting hurt in the Asia Cup and will take back captaincy from Jaker Ali.

Litton Das missed Bangladesh's latest T20I series against Afghanistan where Jaker Ali served as captain instead

Bangladesh's preparations for next year's T20 World Cup in the subcontinent have received a major boost with skipper Litton Das back into the reckoning after sustaining a side strain during the Asia Cup last month. The wicket-keeper batter last led the team in a four-wicket win over Sri Lanka to kickstart the Super Fours stage of the tournament, before missing the losses against Pakistan and India that resigned the Tigers to elimination. Deputy Jaker Ali captained the team in his absence and retained the role for the subsequent T20I series against Afghanistan, successfully guiding the team to a clinical 3-0 whitewash.

Mohammad Saiffudin is the unfortunate player to miss-out as a result of Litton's inclusion, despite the all-rounder scalping a match-winning 3/15 in the final of those T20Is against the Atalans. The only other change from the previous squad is the ommission of Soumya Sarkar, who had returned to the set-up after a significant stint on the sidelines but could not be part of the contingent after visa issues denied him entry into the Emirates. Ironically, the decision came the same day the veteran played a match-winning hand of 91 in the third ODI against the West Indies, having also ended the previous game as the Tigers' top-scorer with a resolute 45.

The three T20Is will all be played at the BSFL Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on October 27, 29, and 31 respectively, with the last T20I series between the two teams ending 3-0 in Bangladesh's favour.
