SA W vs ENG W | Twitter rolling on floor laughing as Dercksen switches to hockey to commit harakiri

Reverse sweep has slowly made its way into the copybook after the advent of T20 cricket, but Annerie Dercksen made a mess of it to bring her own dismissal. The South African all-rounder went for the reverse against England in the semifinal of the ODI World Cup before guiding the ball to the stumps.

Another collapse saw the Proteas slipping to 192/5, but skipper Wolvaardt stayed firm from one end through all this to complete an excellent hundred. She hit 12 fours to bring her three-figure mark in 115 balls with new batter Annerie Dercksen for company at the other end.
But Dercksen made a mess of a reverse sweep in the first ball of the next over to put South Africa in deep trouble at 202/6. The Proteas all-rounder reversed her stance in an attempt to bisect the field against Sophie Ecclestone’s flighted delivery that pitched on a length outside off stump.
Though she was able to get initial contact with the ball, Dercksen accidentally hit the Kookaburra again in a comedy of errors. But what was more unfortunate was that she hit it straight towards her timber as the ball went to unsettle the stumps.
She could not believe her eyes as England players came running towards a smiling Ecclestone to celebrate the dismissal. A helpless Dercksen waved her bat in frustration before returning to the dressing room.
Though unfortunate, Twitter was in splits as Dercksen switched from cricket to hockey to bring an unlikely end to her innings.
Oh god no!

That was bad!
Said it before, but his use of Jafta is a sackable offense

No idea!
What's the point of sending Jafta & Dercksen ahead of Tryon & de Klerk when you've just 12 overs left?

Baffling tactics by RSA
Pressure!
And Jafta is gone for 1 from 4. Now there's just a little bit of added pressure on Tryon, Dercksen and de Klerk.

Absolutely clueless from the coaches.
That was unexpected!
LOL Now Dercksen Tried The Reverse Sweep And Got Out

Great!
Excellent captain's innings by Wolfie! 👏🫡
— Siddharth Dixit (@sid_dixit_25)
But what were they thinking promoting Jafta and Dercksen ahead of Tryon and especially Nadine de Klerk, who's in such great form!!
Even now, why isn't Nadine in at no.8! Baffling!
