1. Urvil Patel in Ranji Trophy 2025
Urvil Patel, the CSK batsman, has been able to perform well for Gujarat in the Ranji Trophy 2025/26. He has contributed to the team both as a batsman and a wicket-keeper. The team had its first match against Assam in this edition. Urvil Patel ended up scoring 35 runs off 74 balls, and even contributed with (one catch, one runout).
The match against Bengal helped him get back in the headlines with his performances. He was able to take two catches in the first innings of the game. With the bat, he didn't do well for Gujarat in their first innings, scoring 15 runs off 12 balls. But he continued to contribute behind the stumps, as he took 3 wickets (2 stumping, 1 catch),
With the target being 327, he stood as the lone warrior for his team. At the time when all of the batsmen failed to perform, Urvil became the only one to have had the answers against the Bengal bowlers. He ended up scoring 109 runs off 124 balls, as Gujarat was bowled out for 185 runs. Urvil Patel remained not out, maintaining his contributions to the team.
2. Urvil Patel's CSK Journey
Urvil Patel was not a part of the Chennai Super Kings team in the IPL 2025 edition. He was earlier a part of the Gujarat Titans in the previous seasons but never got an opportunity to make it to the playing XI. But things changed for the Indian youngster during the IPL 2025 season when he came under MS Dhoni.
Chennai Super Kings had their campaign affected by injuries. But the team made sure that they brought the best replacements for the players who had been injured for the remainder of the tournament. In place of Vansh Bedi, the team went for Urvil Patel. He was hired by Chennai Super Kings for the IPL 2025 season on his base of 30 lakh rupees.
It should also be noted that Chennai Super Kings was not the only team which approached Urvil Patel. He was also approached by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who wanted a replacement for Devdutt Padikkal. At this time, the young talent decided to go for Chennai Super Kings.

On 7 May 2025, he finally made his debut in the Indian Premier League. The match was between the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. CSK had lost both of their openers early in the chase, but Urvil Patel took the job into his hands. He ended up smashing 31 runs off 11 balls on his debut game in the IPL.
His next game came against the Rajasthan Royals, and it didn't go well for him. Urvil Patel got out for a duck in this game against Yudhvir Singh. Despite the Chennai Super Kings setting up a good target, they were not able to win this game against the Rajasthan Royals.

For CSK's last match of the season, Urvil Patel got another chance to prove his worth to the team. This match was against the Gujarat Titans, and even against the top bowlers, Urvil Patel ended up scoring 37 runs off 19 balls, giving the required momentum to the team. Chennai ended up setting a massive target in this game, which was eventually defended by the team to end their campaign on a high note.
