Crystal Palace expect only Liverpool to move for Marc Guehi in January after his refusal to sign a new deal. A £35m summer move collapsed on Deadline Day, and the defender can negotiate with foreign clubs from January 1 ahead of his June 30 contract expiry. Liverpool remains keen due to injuries and uncertainty around Ibrahima Konate’s future.
Doing the rounds in the Premier League transfer discussion is the growing belief that Marc Guehi could be on the move in January, with Crystal Palace convinced that only Liverpool may attempt a mid season bid. The England defender has refused to sign a new contract and his current deal expires on June 30 2026, allowing him to speak to foreign clubs from January 1.
Liverpool came close to landing him for £35m on Deadline Day in the summer before Palace pulled the plug when they failed to secure a replacement. Liverpool’s interest has intensified after losing Giovanni Leoni to a long term injury and facing uncertainty over Ibrahima Konate, whose contract runs out in the summer. Their defensive numbers have suffered, with only Burnley, West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Wolves conceding more expected goals.
Palace meanwhile, expect no other major departures in January but are aware of attention on Daniel Munoz, Jean Philippe Mateta and Adam Wharton, the latter being monitored by Manchester United. Guehi is set to return from a recent foot injury and could feature against Wolves as speculation over his future continues.
