Christian Norgaard’s Arsenal Move and Early Season Update.

Christian Norgaard joined Arsenal from Brentford for £10million plus £2million in add-ons during the summer, replacing Jorginho. The 31-year-old revealed he almost ignored the initial call from his agent about the transfer. So far, he has played just 91 minutes this season, including a full Carabao Cup match and a Champions League substitute appearance, with more opportunities expected under Mikel Arteta.

At the start of the summer transfer window, Christian Norgaard made a surprise move from Brentford to Arsenal for an initial £10million plus around £2million in add-ons. The 31-year-old revealed he nearly ignored his agent’s call about Arsenal’s interest, which had been in discussion since the end of the 2024-25 season. Norgaard joined as a replacement for Jorginho, while Martin Zubimendi arrived from Real Sociedad to fill Thomas Partey’s role.

Despite the excitement of moving to the Emirates Stadium, Norgaard has had limited game time this season, featuring for just 91 minutes across all competitions. He played the full match in Arsenal’s 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Port Vale and made his Champions League debut from the bench in the 2-0 win against Athletic Club. Norgaard admitted the move came as a big surprise since he was settled at Brentford with a two-year contract.

He also rejected multiple Bosman offers earlier in the year, including one from Benfica, before choosing to stay in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta played a major role in securing the transfer, impressed by Norgaard’s performances against Arsenal and for Brentford in general. The Dane described the chance to join Arsenal as too significant to pass up, signaling his commitment to making an impact at his new club.
