Manchester United Could Let Jadon Sancho Leave for Free.

Manchester United may allow £72.9m signing Jadon Sancho to leave for free next summer after his struggles at Aston Villa. Despite loan spells at Dortmund and Chelsea bringing minor fees, United might not trigger his 12-month contract extension. Sancho’s attitude issues and poor form have made any potential permanent sale increasingly unlikely.

Going for what now seems like an inevitable outcome, Manchester United are reportedly considering allowing Jadon Sancho to leave for free next summer after his struggles on loan at Aston Villa. Signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £72.9 million, Sancho’s United career has spiraled downward, with little impact during his recent loan spells.

Despite avoiding criticism due to his long absence from the first team, his lack of form and recent issues, including a snub of Unai Emery’s handshake, have only worsened his situation. The club faces a tough call on whether to trigger the 12-month extension in his contract or cut losses completely. While triggering it could allow a minimal transfer fee, letting him leave for free is increasingly being viewed as realistic.

Comparatively, United managed smaller financial hits with other big-money signings such as Antony, sold to Real Betis for £19 million plus add-ons after an £86.3 million move, and Rasmus Hojlund, who is expected to join Napoli for £38 million after costing up to £72 million. Despite earning modest loan fees from Dortmund and Chelsea, both clubs declined permanent deals, highlighting Sancho’s fading appeal and United’s costly transfer misjudgment.
