A spark on the field can change the course of the game, and Josh Inglis showed that with an excellent effort in the second Test against England in Brisbane. The Australian player produced a neat pick up and an accurate throw to catch England skipper Ben Stokes ay outside his crease.

‌Australia wrested the initial advantage in the second Test in Brisbane after England opted to bat  after winning the spin of the coin. Mitchell Starc dismissed Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope for ducks in his first two overs as the visitors were down to 5/2.

But Zak Crawley and Joe Root rebuilt the innings with a 117-run partnership for the third wicket before the opener was dismissed by Michael Neser after making 76 off 93 balls. With Harry Brook also perishing after a promosing start, England were placed at a tricky 176/4 as captain Ben Stokes walked in to join a well-set Root in the middle.

The pair calmed the nerves with their assured stand, taking the side past the 200-run mark before an error of judgement from Stokes combined with a brilliant piece of fielding from Josh Inglis spelt doom for the England skipper. The partnership was 34 runs old and Stokes had played out the initial difficult phase to be placed at 19 off 48 balls when calamity struck for the visitors.

The England captain defended a good length delivery from Brendan Doggett around off stump before trying to take on Josh Inglis who was stationed at short cover. But the left-handed batter did not get a positive response from his senior mate who denied a single to leave Stokes stranded at halfway.

Just as he recovered and tried to make his ground, Inglis was already on the pick up before unfurling a side-arm throw that went on to hit the stumps. With only one stump to aim at, Inglis produced a stunning effort that ended the England captain’s stay.

The all-rounder soon realised his mistake before apologizing to Root and giving him a fist bump to walk off. Twitter was in awe of Inglis’ breathtaking effort produced another wicket shortly afterwards as England struggled at 211/6.
