IND vs SA | Twitter chuckles as Shastri tickles their funny bone with cheeky comment on Murali Kartik

Ravi Shastri is often looked up to for livening proceedings with the microphone, and he did not disappoint during the second T20I between India and South Africa. The former cricketer, while trying to find a resemblance to George Linde, was quick to troll former spinner Murali Kartik in Mullanpur.

‌After being put into bat in the second T20I at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, South Africa smashed 213/4 against India in Mullanpur on Thursday. The Proteas were well-served by opener Quinton de Kock, who smashed seven sixes and five fours during his knock of 90 off 46 balls, before David Miller and Donovan Ferreira finished the innings on a high with unbeaten cameos.

In reply, the home side got off to a worst start, losing their top three batter inside the powerplay to end the six-over mark at 51/3. The Men in Blue went further deep into their hole with Axar Patel also walking back an over later with the side needing 147 runs from the remaining 72 balls.

Just as the game was meandering slowly on the field, Ravi Shastri ensured that the entertainment quotient stayed high as he lightened up proceedings with the microphone. Just as George Linde came on to bowl, Shastri went on air, mentioning that the left-arm spinner’s action reminded him of a former spinner.

And just then, the cameras panned to fellow commentator Murali Kartik, who was seen rotating his arms. Shastri was quick to pull his leg with words, “He has already started warming up”. And just as he gave that wide grin, Shastri added, “His head is shining”, perhaps pointing to the reflection of the tubelight on his head.

Twitter was in splits as Shastri continued to entertain them even when the match had nothing going for the home side.
