The Women's Premier League is about to go for its first ever Mega Auction. Before that, every team is likely to bring out their retention list soon which will allow fans to know about the fans to know which players are back in the line-up. But, there are a few players who might not be retained by their teams.
Women's Premier League is all set to go for its first ever Mega Auction. All teams will be eager to build up their line-ups at its best for the next edition, which will help them to win the next title. But before participating in the auction, teams will have to bring out the list of players they have retained and the ones who
At this time, several fans would get an idea who could be retained. There could be teams which use most retentions and teams which could use the least of it. Amidst all this, there have been a list of players who are likely to be released in the upcoming season. These players would further be participating in the WPL Mega Auction to make things more intense.
The Australian batter, Meg Lanning, is the first name which is likely to be released ahead of the Mega Auction. She was a part of Delhi Capitals Women since the start of the tournament and has led the team for three seasons. But in all the three season, the team failed to win the finals despite making consecutive appearances.
Meg Lanning in WPL:
It cannot be denied that Meg Lanning led Delhi Capitals Women from front. Being a top order batter, she was able to score runs for the team at a rapid pace. If she gets released by Delhi Capitals, it would be a tough decision for the team as they will also have to find a new skipper for the team.
While it is unclear whether she will be released or not, her contributions for Delhi Capitals Women will be remembered forever by the fans. And if she enters the Mega Auction, Lanning will surely attract big biddings and even bid wars among the teams for her.
The New Zealand all-rounder, Amelia Kerr is also likely to be released by her team ahead of the WPL Mega Auction. Kerr has been a crucial part of Mumbai Indians Women in the tournament, but there are chances fans may not see her perform with the team in the next season. Being an all-rounder, Kerr was able to contribute to the team with both bat and ball.
Amelia Kerr in WPL (Batting)
Coming to bat in the middle order, she played a vital role to maintain the team's scoring rate in the death overs. Although she has not scored even a single half-century in the tournament, her cameos have been impressive. It should be noted that Kerr played a silent role for Mumbai's win in the two editions.
Amelia Kerr in WPL (Bowling):
Her major contributions for the team came with the ball. Kerr was able to take a good total of wickets for the team and also played a vital role to restrict the team's scoring rate with her bowling. The Indian spin tracks have been favourable to her, and teams will be eyeing to get her if she enters the auction.
The third name which has been included in the list of players like to be released is Alyssa Healy. She has played for Up Warriorz Women since the start of the tournament, but missed out on the last season. Now, with the team looking forward to the next edition, they could let Alyssa Healy go off.
Alyssa Healy in WPL:
As a wicket-keeper, Healy was able to give her contributions to the team at its best. With the new season coming close, all teams will be eager to get her to their line-up to have a top order batter and a wicket-keeper.
UP Warriorz Women have also not been able to do well in the history of the Women's Premier League. The team will be looking forward to improving their performances from the next season, due to which the retention and release list will be playing a vital role.
