Punjab Kings are still looking for their first IPL title but hindrances just keep on coming. As the team gets ready for the upcoming season, they have suffered with yet another blow. Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the start of the tournament, as he is prioritising his family time.

Punjab Kings, the runner-up of the last edition, are keen to make it to the finals yet again. With Shreyas Iyer at the helm, the team will remain eager to give its best like they did in the last season. But as the start of the new season approaches, things have become quite challenging for them.

Lockie Ferguson, who has played a key role in the team's bowling line-up, won't be available for them at the start of the season. He has decided to rule himself out of the initial games, as he was also blessed with a baby recently. Ferguson has decided to spend some more time and later join Punjab Kings.

This has made things slightly challenging for Punjab Kings, as they approach the start of the new season. Without Ferguson, they will have to look forward to the other overseas bowlers. Marco Jansen, Ben Dwarshuis, and a few more are already there, but Ferguson carried experience.

Our Take

It is sure that the start of the tournament will be a bit of a challenge for PBKS, but it is a challenge with the ball. Noting their strength in the batting line-up, the team will be keen to utilise the same to grab wins in the initial games. The captaincy of Shreyas Iyer cannot be undermined, as he even took the team to the finals in the last season.

Despite the unavailability of Ferguson, Punjab Kings have key bowlers such as Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh, who have done pretty well in the T20 format lately. Till Ferguson joins the team, they could bring up another bowling option as a trump card against the other teams.
