Sandeep Kumar, a raider from Chamtha, Bihar, has emerged as U Mumba’s star in PKL 2025. After starting as a substitute, he scored four consecutive Super 10s, totaling 72 points from seven matches. Formerly with Patna Pirates, Sandeep credits army training for his discipline and aims to help U Mumba reach the final and win their first title since 2015.

After the start of PKL 2025, Sandeep Kumar has emerged as a standout performer for U Mumba, completing a remarkable redemption arc. Hailing from Chamtha in Bihar’s Begusarai district, Sandeep began playing kabaddi casually with friends before pursuing it seriously under the guidance of Dinesh, a retired army officer and NIS-qualified coach. His army experience shaped his discipline and skills, eventually leading to a breakthrough in a 2023 tournament in Patna, where he impressed the Patna Pirates management and earned a spot in Season 10.

Sandeep’s early PKL career was a mix of promise and challenge. He scored 87 raid points in his debut season but had limited opportunities in the following year, playing behind teammates Devank Dalal and Ayan Lohchab. Learning patience and resilience, he transferred to U Mumba this season, joining familiar faces like Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal. Initially coming off the bench, Sandeep’s form surged after a 14-point match against Jaipur Pink Panthers, leading to four consecutive Super 10s across the Jaipur and Chennai legs.

Currently, he is U Mumba’s most prolific raider with 72 points from seven games. Praising team camaraderie, Sandeep aims to guide U Mumba to the playoffs and ultimately secure the title, marking a successful comeback and fulfilling his ambition of competing at the highest level.
