Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have faced a lot of politics over the past few months. With this, it is uncertain whether they will be a part of the 2027 World Cup or not. But, fans think Sachin Tendulkar to be the mastermind behind the same.
Sachin Tendulkar has been the greatest of all time. But there are two players who put his records also in danger. It is none other than Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Sachin Tendulkar’s legacy in the IPL
Soon enough, he was dropped from the team as a captain. On the other hand, Virat Kohli also was a lot close to the 100 international centuries mark of Sachin Tendulkar. But the BCCI politics has cost both of them their spot in the team. It also remains unclear whether they will play in the 2027 World Cup or not. Amidst this, fans doubt if Sachin Tendulkar played the role of a mastermind in this.
1. Rohit and Sachin in MI
Sachin Tendulkar began with Mumbai Indians as the first captain under the team to take part in the finals. However, he was not lucky enough to provide the first trophy to the team. Tendulkar could not have been happy with the result, yet the baton was passed to Rohit Sharma.
During the first season as a captain of the Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma facilitated a win for the Mumbai Indians in the 2013 IPL season. In addition, he overcame the Chennai Super Kings in the finals. It is also the same team that Tendulkar lost to in the previous final clash.

Sachin Tendulkar has also significantly contributed to the Mumbai Indians when he took the team to the finals. He received 618 runs during the season, which is the highest as a captain of the franchise. Tendulkar had an average of 47.53 and registered 5 half-centuries on behalf of the team during the season.
Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, was not able to score runs as a skipper. But he did lead the Mumbai Indians to win the IPL, not just once, but five times. After Rohit acquired a new intent in 2023, it looked easy for him to break Sachin's record for most runs as a captain of MI in a single season.

But before that could happen, the Mumbai Indians pulled out some moves. Rohit Sharma was removed as the skipper of the team, and Hardik Pandya was appointed as the new one. Despite Rohit Sharma being at his finest form, he was stopped from breaking the legacy of Sachin Tendulkar as a captain.
2. Virat and Sachin in International
Sachin Tendulkar is being hailed as the God of cricket to date. He is the only player to have completed 100 international centuries. No one seemed to have come close to him. But there was one player who was ready to take the challenge. And it was Virat Kohli.
Virat Kohli has conquered all forms of the game. However, now, he has retired from the T20I format and Test format and only has ODIs. Still, fans recall how Virat Kohli picked Sachin Tendulkar on his shoulders. It demonstrated how the torch has been transferred successfully through the generations of great players.

Virat Kohli now holds 82 international centuries, leaving him with 18 centuries behind Sachin Tendulkar. But now it also seems impossible for him to break the record of Master Blaster. There have been talks by the BCCI selectors to keep him on the basis of the Merit System, which puts every match an important one for Kohli.
He was still able to dethrone Sachin Tendulkar as the best in the ODI format. Scoring a ton in the 2023 World Cup semi-final clash, Kohli became the first batsman to have scored 50 centuries in the ODI format. He overtook Sachin Tendulkar, who has scored 49 centuries in the same.

While he also dominated in the Test format, with 30 centuries, fans expected him to easily break the record of Sachin Tendulkar. But soon enough, Kohli was forced to retire from the Test format. Having retired from the T20Is by himself, Kohli is now only left with the ODI format to break the record of Sachin Tendulkar, if possible.
