A new rule has been introduced to the game of cricket, which makes it similar to Baseball. This rule has been launched in the BBL and WBBL only as of now. It is expected to benefit the fans much more than the players, offering them a new experience.

In a major development, a new rule has been introduced to the game. This rule is launched in the Big Bash League and Women's Big Bash League, and is expected to offer the fans a new experience. With this rule, cricket is now being much more similar to baseball, not for the players,

According to the new rule, fans who catch the ball in the corridor will be able to keep the same. This rule has been a part of baseball for a long time, and fans have received several moments where they could cherish that they watched the game once. It is now also happening in the BBL, and could be implemented to other games soon.

1. New Rule

Cricket has already been a lot exciting for the fans. But the BBL officials decided to make it worth remembering for those who visit the stadiums to support their teams. Now, if you are watching a match in the BBL or WBBL, you will be able to keep the match ball if you are able to it in the corridor.

But, it should be noted that this rule has some terms and conditions of its own. It is applicable only to the sixes which are smashed in the very first over of the game for both innings. Now every fan would wish the batsmen to smash the ball to the crowd, and make the day memorable for them.

When the first over comes to an end, a new ball is introduced to the game and the remainder of the innings is played with the same. If the ball is caught by the fans after the first over, they will have to return it as usual. This means that the new rule of crowd catching is only available in the first over of both innings.

2. How is it Similar to Baseball?

The new rule which has been launched to cricket was earlier a part of baseball. In baseball, fans are allowed to take the ball with them, if they are able to receive it in the corridor. This allows the fans to keep a souvenir which they will be able to for years to come.

Foul balls and even the home runs can be kept by the fans if they are able to receive the same. This rule had been implemented in baseball a lot earlier, as the cost of balls was not much in the same. And being impressed with the same, the rule has been in Big Bash League and Women's Big Bash League.

With this rule being introduced to cricket, it will help to enhance the fan engagement in the game. Along with that, the cost of a ball in cricket is much similar to that of baseball, but only a limited number of balls are available for a game of cricket. The ball conditions (new or old) also affect the game due to which the rule has been launched for the first over too.
